أبي أعظم مني: يو ١٤: ٢٨
معنى هذه الآية هو أن الإبن ليس هو الآب، طالما أن أحدهما أعظم من الآخر، فإن كان الآب هو الله فالإبن ليس هو الله.
وطالما أن الإبن ليس هو الآب، فعبارة أنا والآب واحد: يو ١٠ آية ٣٠ معناها أنهما متشابهان في موضوع معين وهو عدم قدرة أحد على خطف الخراف من أي منهما.
فالآب: الله، الَّذِي لا يموت، والَّذِي لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلاَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ، هو غير الإبن: يسوع، الذي مات، والذي رآه كل الناس. الرسالة الأولى إلى تيموثاوس: 16.

عبارة ” وقد رأيتموه ” في  هذه الآية لا يمكن أن تؤخذ بمعناها الحرفي، لأن الله هو: الَّذِي وَحْدَهُ لَهُ عَدَمُ الْمَوْتِ، سَاكِنًا فِي نُورٍ لاَ يُدْنَى مِنْهُ، الَّذِي لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلاَ يَقْدِرُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ. ١٦.

8 قَالَ لَهُ فِيلُبُّسُ:«يَا سَيِّدُ، أَرِنَا الآبَ وَكَفَانَا». 9 قَالَ لَهُ يَسُوعُ:«أَنَا مَعَكُمْ زَمَانًا هذِهِ مُدَّتُهُ وَلَمْ تَعْرِفْنِي يَا فِيلُبُّسُ اَلَّذِي رَآنِي فَقَدْ رَأَى الآبَ، فَكَيْفَ تَقُولُ أَنْتَ: أَرِنَا الآبَ؟
فسر يسوع كلامه بما يلي:
10 أَلَسْتَ تُؤْمِنُ أَنِّي أَنَا فِي الآبِ وَالآبَ فِيَّ؟ الْكَلاَمُ الَّذِي أُكَلِّمُكُمْ بِهِ لَسْتُ أَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ مِنْ نَفْسِي: بل هو: كلام الآب.
،  والآبَ الْحَالَّ فِيَّ هُوَ يَعْمَلُ الأَعْمَالَ: أعمال الآب.
11 صَدِّقُونِي أَنِّي فِي الآبِ وَالآبَ فِيَّ.
ولكن يسوع غير الآب: وهو لا يقصد أنه الآب، بل أن الآب حل فيه، كما حل في غيره.
والحلول شيء لا نعلم ما هو بالضبط: أي أنه ربما يكون قدرة على عمل معجزات، بدليل قوله: “ويعمل أعظم منها”:
(12 اَلْحَقَّ الْحَقَّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِي فَالأَعْمَالُ الَّتِي أَنَا أَعْمَلُهَا يَعْمَلُهَا هُوَ أَيْضًا، وَيَعْمَلُ أَعْظَمَ مِنْهَا،)
الكلام هنا عن البشر. أي أن الشخص المؤمن يمكنه أن يعمل أعمالا أعظم من أعمال يسوع. أما الروح القدس فهو روح الله التي تحل في المؤمنين  فتجعلهم مباركين.
  16 وَأَنَا أَطْلُبُ مِنَ الآبِ فَيُعْطِيكُمْ مُعَزِّيًا آخَرَ لِيَمْكُثَ مَعَكُمْ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 20 فِي ذلِكَ الْيَوْمِ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي أَنَا فِي أَبِي، وَأَنْتُمْ فِيَّ، وَأَنَا فِيكُمْ.
أربعة أطراف: الآب والإبن والروح القدس والمؤمنون: الخير فيهم:-
الآب هو الله.
الروح القدس روح مرسلة من الله إلى البشر.
  26 وَأَمَّا الْمُعَزِّي، الرُّوحُ الْقُدُسُ، الَّذِي سَيُرْسِلُهُ الآبُ بِاسْمِي، فَهُوَ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ، وَيُذَكِّرُكُمْ بِكُلِّ مَا قُلْتُهُ لَكُمْ. 25 بِهذَا كَلَّمْتُكُمْ وَأَنَا عِنْدَكُمْ:
الإبن هو يسوع: إنسان نبي، أدى رسالته، وترك العالم، وأرسل الآب الروح القدس ليمكث فينا بعده ويعلمنا كل شيء.
وقد حرص يسوع أن يذكرنا أن اباه أعظم منه كيلا يعتقد أحد أن يسوع هو الله، أي أن الإبن هو الله.
لَوْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَنِي لَكُنْتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ لأَنِّي قُلْتُ أَمْضِي إِلَى الآبِ، لأَنَّ أَبِي أَعْظَمُ مِنِّي. يو ١٤: ٢٨
