My Christianity (5)

The Individual prayer

Prayer when it is individual، i.e. by one person praying to God should not be read from a book, nor should be prayed by memorized texts, but it is a talk from Man to God, i.e. from a son to his Father, & could be concluded by the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father who art in the heavens, hallowed be thy name”, not as a recitation of a text, but by contemplating its meanings, and a promise by the one who prays to implement what is in it.

And when one prays, if one says anything more than what is needed, this is what Jesus asked us not to do:

And ye going to pray, do not make a multitude of words as the Gentiles. For they think that they will be heard in their multitude of words.
Matthew 6: 7
